Domiciliary Care Companies in Liverpool: 103 Active Firms (2026)
Domiciliary care companies provide in-home personal support and care services for older and disabled people across Liverpool.
Buying centres sit mainly with care commissioners, family decision-makers and community support organisations. Purchases are less about ad hoc projects than recurring visit packages, with care planning, medication prompts, companionship and personal support wrapped into rota-managed delivery. Typical buyers need proof that a provider can cover specific neighbourhoods, maintain continuity of carers and handle schedule changes without losing service quality. Engagements tend to look like rolling service relationships rather than software-style contracts: a small office coordinates assessments, shifts and liaison, while the operational weight sits with field-based care workers visiting people at home.

Liverpool has 103 actively trading domiciliary care companies, a relatively compact local market rather than a broad national cohort. Reported employment totals 2,404 people, which fits the sector's operating model: back-office capacity is modest, while delivery depends on a dispersed care workforce working across household visits. The headcount footprint also implies that the sector is material to local employment even when individual firms look administratively small on paper. Revenue scale is uneven, with a narrow upper band above the lower-mid-market threshold and many operators likely organised around local rounds, neighbourhood density and repeat commissioner relationships.
Adult social care providers face a different operating rhythm from ordinary household services because the buyer is often not just the person receiving support. Care commissioners, relatives and community networks all shape demand, and each brings expectations around continuity, medication handling, visit records and escalation when needs change. Market structure therefore favours providers that can evidence dependable local coverage and stable rota management, rather than those simply adding new postcodes. In Liverpool, that tends to make neighbourhood density commercially important: travel time, missed visits and last-minute staff cover affect both margins and service credibility.
The Liverpool market appears likely to stay local and service-led, with scale constrained by workforce coordination rather than by addressable demand alone. Newer entrants may find room where commissioners and families need short-notice cover, but the harder test is maintaining continuity once routes, staff availability and care-plan complexity start to collide. Consolidation tends to be plausible in sectors where compliance costs and rota systems favour larger operators, yet domiciliary care remains relationship-heavy. That may keep a long tail of smaller providers in place, even as the upper-revenue group pulls away through better utilisation and referral flows.

Key facts
About 1% of the trading cohort reports turnover above £5M (2 of 103 firms) — the rest sits below that revenue band.
19% of the cohort was incorporated since 2022 (20 firms), so a sizeable share is in its first few filing cycles.
Liverpool-area domiciliary care sits between local care capacity, family decision-making and public-service purchasing.
Providers deliver care in a person’s own home, rather than in a residential setting.
The local market contains commercial operators with different contracting and reporting structures.
Care provision tends to be labour-intensive, but company structures can separate staffing, trading and group reporting.

How Liverpool Domiciliary Care companies work and how to sell to them
What they do
Liverpool domiciliary care providers earn revenue by arranging recurring home visits rather than one-off household tasks. Income usually comes from hourly or package-based care, with visit length, frequency, travel time and level of personal support shaping margin. Service lines often combine personal care, medication prompts, companionship and practical help, coordinated through assessments, care plans and rotas. The commercial model is operationally fragile: unused staff hours, late schedule changes and poor route density can erode profit even where demand is steady, so providers care about utilisation as much as new referrals.
Who they sell to
The buyer base is mixed, with care commissioners, households, relatives and community support organisations all influencing selection. Commissioner-led work tends to involve formal referral routes, evidence of local coverage and ongoing service monitoring; family-led work is often more direct, with trust and continuity carrying more weight than a tender-style process. Purchase cycles are usually shorter when a household has an immediate care need, but slower where eligibility, funding and service matching are involved. The practical buyer wants reassurance that the provider can staff the rota after the first assessment, not just agree a care plan.
What they buy
Most domiciliary care firms tend to spend on tools and services that reduce coordinator workload and keep field delivery traceable. Relevant categories include scheduling and rota software, digital care records, payroll, HR administration, recruitment support, staff training, lone-worker processes, telephony, accounting and insurance. Operators with larger route networks may also look at reporting around utilisation, missed visits, travel time and referral conversion. Professional services are usually practical rather than advisory-heavy: employment law, contracts, bookkeeping and local marketing. Sellers should expect scrutiny on implementation effort, because office teams are small and disruption lands quickly on carers and clients.
Why and how to sell to them
Domiciliary care buyers tend to evaluate suppliers when coordination strain becomes visible: new neighbourhood coverage, rising referral volume, staff churn, rota gaps, medication-record errors or more complex care plans. Providers incorporated since 2022 may still be building their operating stack, while operators above the lower-mid-market threshold are more likely to be tightening reporting, finance processes and workforce retention. Outbound works better when it links to a specific operating pressure, such as reducing missed visits, shortening payroll admin or evidencing continuity to commissioners and families. Generic claims about growth will usually sound detached from the daily economics of home visits.
How this list is built
Data sources
This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.
Classification
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.
Freshness
The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.
