Domiciliary Care Companies in London: 1,500+ Active Firms (2026)
Domiciliary care companies provide home-based personal care and support for adults and children across London boroughs.
Buying activity centres on local authority commissioning, care coordination and family-funded packages rather than discretionary software-like procurement. Providers sell trust, capacity and compliance assurance: trained care staff, branch-level management, safeguarding processes and scheduling coverage are usually the substance of the engagement. Contracts tend to be repeat visit schedules across defined borough catchments, with privately funded care sitting alongside contracted work. The more relevant commercial distinction is not small versus enterprise buyer, but whether a provider can maintain local teams, documentation and referral relationships at the volume required by commissioners and households.
London has around 1,520 actively trading domiciliary care companies, making the market sizeable but still operationally local: borough coverage, rota density and branch management matter more than a national footprint. Reported headcount across these providers is 10,677, which fits a labour-heavy model built around recurring visits rather than remote delivery. Scale is unevenly distributed. Only 40 companies report turnover above £5M, while 338 providers have been incorporated since 2022, so the cohort mixes mature care operators with a recent intake of smaller agencies.
The regulated social care setting makes operational evidence part of the sale. Safeguarding procedures, care-plan documentation, staff training records, complaints handling and visit scheduling all have to stand up to scrutiny before a provider is trusted with vulnerable adults or children. London borough referral relationships also shape market access, because home-care capacity has to be close enough to clients for missed visits and staff turnover to be managed. Price matters, but commissioners and privately funded clients tend to test whether the provider can document care quality as well as deliver hours.
Scale appears to remain hard work in this market. A broad base of local and newer operators tends to keep competition fragmented, while only a smaller group reaches multi-branch revenue scale. Workforce scheduling, retention and compliance evidence are likely to separate durable providers from agencies built mainly around short-run referral demand. Consolidation may occur where acquirers can add borough coverage or care teams, but the operating model still depends on local trust, branch supervision and the availability of trained staff. That makes steady execution more plausible than a clean platform-style expansion story.

Key facts
About 2% of the trading cohort reports turnover above £5M (40 of 1,520 firms) — the rest sits below that revenue band.
22% of the cohort was incorporated since 2022 (338 firms), so a sizeable share is in its first few filing cycles.
Providers deliver personal care and support in people’s homes, rather than in residential settings.
Delivery is borough-focused, so travel time, rota planning and local commissioning tend to shape operating models.
Scale in domiciliary care is linked to staffed hours and visit coverage, rather than software-like margin expansion.
The market includes both multi-site operators and smaller providers focused on individual London boroughs.

How London domiciliary care companies work and how to sell to them
What they do
Domiciliary care firms earn revenue by supplying recurring in-home care hours rather than one-off projects. Work is usually packaged as agreed visit schedules, with income coming from local authority-commissioned care, privately funded household packages and, for some providers, mixed arrangements across a borough catchment. Pricing tends to follow the care plan: an hourly rate, visit-based rate or block of scheduled support, with margins shaped by travel time, staff utilisation and supervision costs. The service itself is operational rather than asset-heavy. Branch managers, coordinators and care workers turn referrals into rotas, assessments, care-plan updates and documented visits.
Who they sell to
The buyer is often a commissioning or care-brokerage team rather than a conventional procurement department. Local authority work tends to involve framework access, quality checks and ongoing allocation of cases, while private packages are influenced by families, care recipients and advocates comparing trust, responsiveness and continuity of carers. Typical decision-makers include commissioning managers, social workers, care coordinators, finance leads and branch-level operations managers. Sales cycles vary: a privately funded package can move after an assessment and availability check, whereas commissioned work usually takes longer because eligibility, pricing, safeguarding evidence and capacity all need to line up.
What they buy
Most domiciliary care providers tend to spend on tools and services that keep hours delivered, evidenced and paid for. Relevant categories include rostering software, electronic care planning, mobile visit logging, payroll, HR administration, training, lone-worker safety, call handling, accounting, insurance and recruitment support. Providers with several branches may also look for management reporting, quality-audit workflows and systems that reconcile planned visits with delivered care. Marketing spend is usually more practical than image-led: local search, referral materials and private-enquiry handling. Sellers should expect branch managers and operations teams to care about adoption, because unused systems quickly become a compliance and billing problem.
Why and how to sell to them
Buying interest tends to appear when rota pressure, missed-visit risk or paperwork load starts to threaten referrals and inspection readiness. Other triggers include adding borough coverage, winning a new commissioned package, replacing a care coordinator, opening a branch or hiring enough staff that spreadsheet-led controls stop working. Outbound works better when it links to operational failure modes: fewer uncovered calls, faster onboarding, clearer care notes, cleaner payroll and evidence that managers can retrieve during a review. Generic efficiency claims tend to land poorly unless they connect to care continuity, staff retention or the provider’s ability to accept more packages without weakening supervision.
How this list is built
Data sources
This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.
Classification
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.
Freshness
The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.
