Gambling Companies in the UK: 700+ Active Firms (2026)
Gambling and iGaming companies run licensed betting, casino, bingo, lottery or gambling software services under UK regulation.
Buying centres sit around operator P&Ls, platform procurement and compliance functions, rather than a single software budget. The buyer is usually a licensed operator, lottery or bingo group, venue-linked gaming business, or a platform team supporting remote gambling. Sales into smaller operators tend to revolve around account systems, game or bet management and regulatory reporting; enterprise engagements add trading, risk, payments, customer operations and responsible-gambling controls. Contracts are usually higher-touch than ordinary SaaS, with due diligence on licensing, audit trails, hosting, player protection and change control before any revenue-share, platform-fee or managed-service arrangement is signed.

The UK cohort contains 746 actively trading Gambling and iGaming companies, so the population is relatively bounded for a market spanning operators, suppliers and venue-linked activity. Within that group, 55 firms report turnover above £5M, while 97 have been incorporated since 2022, leaving a long tail of younger or smaller operators alongside a thinner group of scaled revenue businesses. Reported employment totals 2,198 people across firms that disclose headcount, pointing to a labour footprint concentrated in product, trading, compliance, technology and customer operations rather than in very large venue networks.
The Gambling Commission is the central market-shaping body for operators serving Great Britain. Its Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice set the requirements licensees must meet to hold a licence, so compliance sits inside product design, account management, game or bet operations and regulatory reporting rather than at the edge of the business. The regime reaches across betting, bingo, casino, gaming machines, gambling software and lotteries, with personal licences relevant in parts of the market. Regulatory returns matter as an operating process because the Commission uses licensed-operator submissions to publish official industry statistics and monitor activity across remote and venue-linked gambling.
Growth prospects appear tied less to new licence formation than to the migration of play, trading and compliance workflows onto digital platforms. Many firms remain operator-led or service-led, so scale tends to depend on regulated distribution, payment resilience, responsible-gambling controls and the ability to absorb supervision without slowing product changes. Smaller suppliers may find procurement harder where operators prefer concentrated accountability and shorter chains of operational responsibility. Consolidation is therefore plausible in software and platform services, while venue-linked businesses are likely to remain more exposed to local demand, staffing and premises economics.

How UK Gambling companies work and how to sell to them
What they do
Revenue usually comes from customer stakes and betting margin, casino or bingo yield, machine takings, lottery administration, software licence fees, platform fees, and revenue-share with operators. Remote gambling firms sell an account-based service rather than a simple app: wallets, identity checks, game or bet settlement, payments, customer messaging and safer-gambling controls all sit inside the proposition. B2B suppliers package account platforms, game aggregation, trading services, risk engines, reporting tools or managed operations. Pricing tends to mix implementation fees, monthly minimums, usage charges, revenue-share and support retainers, with commercial terms shaped by licensing scope and liability allocation.
Who they sell to
Customer-facing operators sell directly to players, but their supplier market is mostly B2B and licensed. Typical buyers include remote betting and casino operators, bingo and lottery groups, gaming-machine businesses, platform teams and venue-linked operators with digital account systems. Buying committees tend to include the chief executive, commercial director, CTO, head of product, head of compliance, finance lead and procurement where the operator is larger. Smaller firms may buy directly from founders or operations heads. Enterprise purchases usually involve security review, licence checks, technical integration, legal redlines and sometimes an RFP; supplier-led revenue-share can shorten the upfront budget debate but rarely removes due diligence.
What they buy
Most gambling firms tend to spend on tools that protect the account, keep play available and produce evidence for regulators. Common categories include identity and age verification, KYC and AML screening, fraud monitoring, payment routing, chargeback management, customer support, CRM, marketing consent, data warehousing, analytics and regulatory reporting. Technology teams also buy cloud hosting, database management, uptime monitoring, observability, penetration testing, incident response and software development support. Larger operators may need odds, trading and risk services, game content integration, customer-risk modelling and call-centre tooling; venue-linked businesses are more likely to buy payments, EPOS integration, machine maintenance, networking and local IT support.
Why and how to sell to them
Buying intent often appears when a gambling business changes platform, applies for or varies a licence, adds a remote channel, moves payments, receives audit findings, or hires senior product, compliance or technology staff. Common pain points are proof of player protection, payment failure, bonus abuse, fraud, trading exposure, customer churn, data quality and the operational cost of regulatory returns. Outbound messages tend to work better when they map onto these events rather than generic growth claims. Useful angles are reduction in manual review, clearer audit trails, faster incident handling, lower integration risk and a cleaner split of responsibility between operator, supplier and managed-service team.
How this list is built
Data sources
This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.
Classification
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.
Freshness
The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.
