Field Service Companies in the UK: 400+ Active Firms (2026)
Field service companies schedule, dispatch and support mobile workforces for installation, maintenance and repair across the UK.
Buying centres tend to sit in operations, service delivery, facilities, engineering and asset-management teams, with finance involved where workforce utilisation and contract margins are material. Sellers usually work with business customers rather than consumers: utilities contractors, facilities managers, construction services, equipment maintenance teams and other organisations running distributed mobile work. Engagements are operational rather than experimental, often covering scheduling, route planning, job status, parts availability, compliance evidence and customer communications across depots and regional teams. The addressable buyers skew towards upper-mid-market and enterprise operations, though lean specialist providers can still serve complex maintenance niches where workflow depth matters more than headcount.
402 field service companies are actively trading in the UK, a relatively tight cohort for an operational-technology category. Reported employment totals 2,134 people across the 121 firms that disclose staff numbers, so the visible workforce is concentrated in operators with measurable staff bases rather than shell entities. Scale is uneven: 30 firms report turnover above £5M, while 46 were incorporated since 2022. That mix points to a market with a small set of established operational-technology suppliers and a continuing intake of newer scheduling, compliance and mobile-workflow specialists.
Operational exposure is usually set by the customer’s sector rather than by a single field-service rulebook. Providers serving utilities, energy, transport, social housing or facilities maintenance often need audit trails for site attendance, job completion, lone-worker processes, asset checks and subcontractor activity. Mobile-worker tracking also brings privacy questions under GDPR and the ICO’s employment-practices expectations, particularly where location, route and performance information is used for supervision. For utilities-facing work, OFGEM-regulated customers tend to push requirements down the supply chain, so procurement can involve security, resilience and service-continuity clauses as much as workflow functionality.
Procurement appears likely to remain evidence-led, with buyers favouring suppliers that can show deployment discipline across depots, contractors and mobile teams. The market tends to split between specialist workflow providers and broader operational systems that absorb field-service modules. Consolidation may come from adjacent facilities, construction and maintenance-software categories, although smaller suppliers can remain defensible where they encode sector-specific job logic. Pressure around workforce monitoring, subcontractor control and service assurance has been making the category less about simple dispatch and more about operational accountability.

Key facts
About 7% of the trading cohort reports turnover above £5M (30 of 402 firms) — the rest sits below that revenue band.
11% of the cohort was incorporated since 2022 (46 firms), so a sizeable share is in its first few filing cycles.
Field service management firms support scheduling, dispatch and job-status capture for installation, maintenance and repair teams.
Buyers tend to assess field service tools through route density, appointment capacity and first-time fix rates, not software functionality alone.
The segment spans labour-intensive service operators, software-led workflow vendors, reseller models and contractor-network businesses.
Procurement often sits between operations, finance and customer-service teams because field performance affects service cost and customer contact.

How UK field service companies work and how to sell to them
What they do
Revenue usually comes from subscription software sold to organisations that plan, allocate and evidence work outside a fixed site. Pricing tends to be per mobile worker, dispatcher, depot, asset base or work-order volume, with implementation, integration, data migration and training charged separately. Many providers also earn services revenue from workflow design, configuration and customer-specific reporting, because field operations rarely map neatly onto a standard template. Larger deployments often sit on annual or multi-year contracts, with support tiers and service-level commitments folded into the commercial model. The product shape is usually cloud software plus mobile applications, rather than physical equipment, although integrations with sensors, vehicles and inventory systems are common.
Who they sell to
Typical buyers are service directors, operations directors, heads of engineering, facilities leaders and asset-management teams, with CIO, CTO, finance, procurement and compliance roles joining once integration, margin reporting or workforce monitoring becomes material. Most sales are direct and consultative rather than self-serve, because buyers need to test scheduling logic, mobile adoption, permissions, reporting and links into existing finance or customer systems. Smaller customers may buy a packaged version through inside sales, while enterprise and public-sector-adjacent accounts tend to use formal procurement, demonstrations, pilots and security review. Contract values vary with the number of field users, sites and workflows covered, so qualification usually depends on operational complexity rather than company size alone.
What they buy
Most field-service technology firms tend to spend on cloud hosting, mobile engineering, mapping and geocoding services, integration tooling, security testing, observability, billing, CRM, customer success systems and analytics. Implementation capacity is also a recurring constraint, so recruitment firms, contractor networks and training providers can be relevant when delivery teams are stretched. Legal and advisory spend often centres on data protection, employment monitoring, public-sector procurement terms and software licence structures. Marketing budgets usually lean towards account-based outbound, sector events, analyst relations, content for operations buyers and partner channels into facilities, utilities, construction services and equipment-maintenance markets. Finance teams may also look for subscription metrics, revenue recognition and usage-based billing support.
Why and how to sell to them
Commercial pressure often comes from long implementation cycles, integration work that absorbs delivery margin, and the need to prove measurable gains in technician utilisation, first-time fix rates, missed appointments and service evidence. Buying intent tends to appear when a provider wins a larger customer, opens a new vertical market, hires senior delivery or security staff, prepares for an audit, or changes pricing from licence-led to usage-led contracts. Outbound works better when it names the operational bottleneck rather than the category: reducing deployment effort, passing procurement review, improving mobile reliability, controlling cloud cost, or giving customer success teams earlier warning that an account is drifting.
How this list is built
Data sources
This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.
Classification
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.
Freshness
The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.
