Financial Advice Companies in London: 3,500+ Active Firms (2026)
Financial advice companies in London advise individuals and businesses on wealth, pensions, protection and investment decisions.
Buying centres tend to split between private-client wealth teams, employer pension and protection buyers, and finance directors seeking corporate financial decision support. Engagements usually look like regulated professional-services relationships: suitability work, implementation support, annual reviews and retainer or commission-linked servicing, rather than one-off transaction sales. The customer base ranges from affluent individuals and entrepreneurs to employers and institutions, with London practices often shaped by referral networks across accountancy, legal, tax and corporate-finance channels. Specialist advisory teams sit alongside multi-office organisations, so the market mixes owner-managed practices with firms built around recurring client servicing.
London has 3,532 actively trading financial advice companies, making it a sizeable local market rather than a narrow City niche. Reported headcount totals 838 people, which points to a labour-intensive professional-services footprint even where many firms remain small. The scale distribution is uneven: 42 companies report more than £5M in turnover, while 904 were incorporated since 2022. That mix leaves a broad base of recently formed advisory businesses beneath a much smaller group of revenue-cleared firms, with the latter more likely to have institutional processes, compliance teams and repeatable servicing models.
Financial advice sits inside the FCA perimeter when firms recommend regulated investments, pensions or protection products, so permissions, suitability work, disclosure and ongoing supervision shape the operating model. GDPR also matters because advisers handle personal financial, employment and health-related information during fact-finding and protection work. Market structure is fragmented, with directly authorised practices sitting alongside appointed representative arrangements and firms that focus on corporate benefits, pensions, private-client wealth or protection. London’s concentration of professional-services buyers and introducers can help origination, but it also raises the bar for compliance evidence and client documentation.
The cohort appears likely to remain split between specialist practices and firms trying to build more repeatable servicing models. Newer entrants tend to compete through client segment focus, adviser relationships or employer channels, rather than broad consumer reach. Compliance demands and succession planning have been steady reasons for consolidation, particularly where owner-managed firms face capacity constraints. Technology use may reduce some administrative work, but advice still depends on trust, suitability judgement and regulated accountability. Scale therefore tends to come from process discipline, recurring review income and acquisition of adviser books, not from a simple volume-led model.

Key facts
About 1% of the trading cohort reports turnover above £5M (42 of 3,532 firms) — the rest sits below that revenue band.
25% of the cohort was incorporated since 2022 (904 firms), so a sizeable share is in its first few filing cycles.
Advice work spans wealth, pensions, protection and investment decisions for individuals and businesses.
London firms tend to include larger advisory groups alongside smaller specialist practices, so the market covers several operating models.
Company-level revenue can sit in a regulated operating entity or a wider group structure, which makes scale comparisons uneven across advice businesses.

How London financial advice companies work and how to sell to them
What they do
London financial advice firms make money through a blend of initial planning fees, implementation charges, ongoing servicing fees and, in protection or some intermediary work, commission-linked revenue. Private-client wealth advice is usually anchored in fact-finding, suitability assessment, portfolio or pension recommendations and annual review meetings. Corporate work can include pension selection, employee-benefit advice, protection cover and finance-led decision support. The deliverable is less a software product than a regulated advisory process: evidence gathering, recommendation documents, client communication, provider liaison and review records. Margins therefore depend on adviser capacity, paraplanning support, compliance workload and the proportion of clients that stay on recurring service.
Who they sell to
Most clients arrive through referral networks, professional introducers, existing employer relationships or targeted private-client prospecting rather than low-touch self-serve buying. Affluent individuals, entrepreneurs and executives usually buy through adviser-led consultation, with trust and suitability documentation mattering as much as price. Employer and institutional buyers tend to involve a finance director, HR director, trustee group or procurement team, especially where pensions, protection or benefits are in scope. Sales cycles are short only for narrow advice needs; pension transfers, employer schemes and discretionary investment governance can take months, with due diligence around permissions, fees, service standards and conflicts.
What they buy
Advisory firms tend to buy tools and services that reduce administration without weakening the advice file. Common spend areas include CRM, client onboarding, document management, e-signature, cashflow modelling, portfolio reporting, commission reconciliation, billing, compliance monitoring, call recording and secure client portals. They also use outsourced paraplanning, professional indemnity cover, cyber security advice, accountancy, employment law, recruitment and marketing support. Larger practices are more likely to need data migration, workflow design, management information and integration work across advice, finance and compliance teams. Smaller firms may prioritise anything that shortens fact-finding, review preparation or FCA evidence gathering.
Why and how to sell to them
Buying intent often appears when a practice hires advisers, adds paraplanners, acquires a client book, changes authorisation model, launches an employer-benefits line or faces an FCA review. Capacity pressure is a useful angle: many firms know revenue is capped by adviser time, review backlogs and manual suitability work. Compliance risk is another, particularly where GDPR obligations, dispersed client records or inconsistent file notes create management anxiety. Outbound messages tend to land better when they are specific to advice operations: cleaner audit trails, faster annual reviews, clearer fee reconciliation, lower re-keying and fewer missed service commitments.
How this list is built
Data sources
This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.
Classification
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.
Freshness
The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.
