Mobile Networks Companies in the UK: 1,800+ Active Firms (2026)
Mobile network companies in the UK operate wireless connectivity infrastructure, services and related telecoms capabilities for business and consumer markets.
Buying centres usually sit around network procurement, telecoms engineering, wholesale connectivity and managed wireless service operations. Enterprise and public-sector buyers tend to treat these suppliers as operational infrastructure, while consumer-facing or wholesale providers lean more on recurring connectivity revenue and service availability. Engagements range from discrete engineering or coverage work to contracted managed connectivity across estates, with supplier selection shaped by network operations capability, compliance maturity and the ability to support hosted, licensed or infrastructure-led delivery models. Lean contractor-led teams can sit alongside larger staffed operators, so turnover and operating responsibility often matter more than headcount alone.
A long tail sits behind the UK list: 1,825 mobile network companies are actively trading in the UK. Reported headcount totals 2,575 roles, giving the cohort a visible employment footprint without implying that most firms operate at network-owner scale. Only 44 have reported turnover above £5M, while 371 were incorporated since 2022. That mix points to a market with many specialist or early-commercial providers, plus a smaller revenue-generating layer serving enterprise, wholesale, public-sector and consumer communications needs.
Licensing and compliance are not ancillary to the commercial model. Infrastructure-led operators carry a different diligence burden from hosted and managed-service providers: buyers usually ask who controls the network, how outages are handled, where service responsibility sits, and whether the supplier can support wholesale, public-sector or consumer use cases without blurring accountability. That tends to favour firms with documented network operations capability and recurring service processes, while lean engineering contractors may remain closer to project delivery unless they can take on managed-service obligations.
Scale-up scarcity is likely to keep the market fragmented, with many firms staying close to specialist engineering, managed connectivity or hosted-service niches rather than building broad national coverage propositions. Buyers appear to be placing more weight on resilience, compliance and accountability, particularly where mobile connectivity supports critical operations. Consolidation pressure tends to come from infrastructure costs and the need for service depth, while newer entrants may find room in private wireless, managed estates and wholesale-adjacent models if they can prove operational maturity without carrying the full cost base of network ownership.

Key facts
About 2% of the trading cohort reports turnover above £5M (44 of 1,825 firms) — the rest sits below that revenue band.
20% of the cohort was incorporated since 2022 (371 firms), so a sizeable share is in its first few filing cycles.
The category spans wireless connectivity infrastructure, services and related telecoms capabilities for both consumer and business markets.
Business models range from asset-light service providers to telecoms infrastructure operators and managed-service models.
Companies in this category can sit at several points in the telecoms supply chain, from network-adjacent specialists to smaller connectivity providers.

How UK mobile networks companies work and how to sell to them
What they do
Mobile network companies usually earn from a mix of recurring access fees, usage-based connectivity charges, wholesale rates, installation work and managed-service retainers. Some sell network capacity or hosted mobile services to other providers; others package private wireless, coverage engineering, support and service reporting for estates with operational dependency on mobile connectivity. Pricing tends to follow the risk being carried: discrete engineering work is often scoped as a project, while managed connectivity is contracted around availability, support response and volume. Operators with infrastructure exposure carry network build, monitoring and service assurance costs; hosted and managed providers package connectivity, support and reporting around leased capacity or partner infrastructure.
Who they sell to
Buyers are often enterprise estates, public-sector bodies, wholesale telecoms customers, systems integrators and consumer-facing communications providers. Typical sponsors include CTOs, network directors, heads of procurement, operations directors, estates teams and, where recurring cost or liability is material, CFOs. Smaller coverage or engineering jobs can be bought directly by technical teams, but managed wireless and wholesale arrangements tend to involve formal procurement, service-level review and legal scrutiny. Public-sector and larger enterprise opportunities are more likely to move through frameworks, tenders or RFPs, while specialist private-network and hosted-service sales are often relationship-led, with proof of operational responsibility carrying more weight than generic feature claims.
What they buy
Most mobile network firms tend to spend on systems that make service delivery measurable: network inventory, monitoring, incident management, billing, revenue assurance, CRM, customer support, field-service scheduling and contract management. Security, identity access control, backup, cloud hosting and analytics are common buying areas where firms run hosted platforms or customer portals. Telecoms engineering businesses also buy test equipment, site survey support, compliance advice, insurance, accounting, legal services and recruitment for network, support and commercial roles. For sellers, the cleaner fit is usually a cost, uptime, provisioning or compliance problem rather than a generic productivity pitch.
Why and how to sell to them
Commercial pressure usually shows up when mobile network firms move from project delivery into recurring service obligations, win a larger estate contract, expand wholesale activity, suffer outage or support strain, or prepare for a procurement review. Leadership changes and hiring in network operations, finance or customer success can also point to new buying authority. Sales approaches tend to land better when they map to service accountability: fewer manual handovers, clearer fault ownership, faster provisioning, cleaner billing, auditable compliance and better margin control. Claims need evidence, because these buyers are used to checking operational responsibility before adding another supplier to the stack.
How this list is built
Data sources
This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.
Classification
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.
Freshness
The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.
