Broadband Companies in Liverpool: 54 Active Firms (2026)

Broadband companies in Liverpool build, operate and support fixed-line internet and cable connectivity across the city-region.

Buying activity tends to sit with property owners, SME operators, public-sector estates teams and wholesale network partners, rather than a single technology function. The commercial shape is practical: survey, install, provision, maintain and support connectivity within a bounded geography. Contracts often blend recurring access fees with project work for fibre build, cabling, landlord-led upgrades or business premises support. Field engineering capacity matters as much as sales reach, because local service assurance, appointment handling and fault resolution are part of the product customers think they are buying.

Liverpool has 54 actively trading broadband companies in this list, a small but locally legible cohort rather than a national carrier universe. Reported employment totals 242 people, which points to operators with field teams, support desks and account management capacity but limited depth compared with larger telecoms groups. The presence of installation and maintenance-led firms alongside recurring connectivity providers matters for interpretation: some revenue will sit in project work, while other firms look more like subscription access businesses tied to residential, landlord, SME or public-sector demand across Merseyside.

Fixed-line connectivity is shaped by access to premises and streets as much as by retail demand. Wayleaves, landlord permissions, civil works scheduling, service-level commitments and consumer support processes can determine whether a local provider can turn an order book into installed lines. Liverpool’s mix of dense urban streets, commercial buildings and surrounding metropolitan areas tends to favour operators that can coordinate engineering partners and handle faults locally. Wholesale relationships also matter, since some providers control network assets while others package connectivity, support and account management around third-party infrastructure.

Delivery-led operators appear to outnumber pure software or brand-only resellers. That tends to make growth dependent on access agreements, engineering availability and service reliability, not just customer acquisition. Recent formation activity suggests continued entry at the local end of the market, although scale-up scarcity remains likely where operators need capital for network build or working capital for installation backlogs. Consolidation may therefore come through partnership, asset sharing or acquisition of local books, while smaller firms continue to compete on response times and familiarity with neighbourhood constraints.

Key facts

About 5% of the trading cohort reports turnover above £5M (3 of 54 firms) — the rest sits below that revenue band.

27% of the cohort was incorporated since 2022 (15 firms), so a sizeable share is in its first few filing cycles.

Broadband and cable firms in Liverpool support fixed-line connectivity through installation, maintenance and customer support as well as network operation.

Local delivery capacity matters because fixed-line services still depend on field work, premises access and response times.

The market appears to include both labour-intensive installation firms and leaner connectivity or network-management operators.

How Liverpool Broadband companies work and how to sell to them

What they do

Liverpool broadband firms usually earn through recurring access charges for fixed connectivity, with one-off income from survey, installation, cabling, router configuration, repairs and network extension work. Some own or manage local infrastructure; others package wholesale capacity with provisioning, support and account management. Residential and small-business packages are closer to monthly subscription products, while landlord, public-sector and commercial-building work often combines a quoted project fee with ongoing service charges. Margin depends on take-up density, engineer utilisation, wholesale input costs, and the number of repeat visits needed to complete a connection or clear a fault. For sellers, the commercial unit is often a building, street, estate, or local account book, not just an individual line.

Who they sell to

Customers tend to split between homes, SMEs, landlords, managed office sites, public-sector premises and wholesale partners that need local delivery capacity. Buyer roles vary: owner-managers and finance directors approve smaller business contracts, while facilities managers, estates teams, IT managers and procurement leads shape larger site roll-outs. Direct sales and referral-based local selling are common for SME and landlord work; public-sector and larger property engagements are more likely to involve formal quotes, frameworks or tender-style evaluation. Sales cycles are usually short where an address is already serviceable, and longer where wayleaves, civils planning, tenant communications or network dependency checks are needed before an order can become an installation.

What they buy

Most broadband firms tend to spend on systems that reduce installation friction and improve service assurance. Useful categories include CRM, subscription billing, direct-debit management, field-service scheduling, route planning, network monitoring, ticketing, call handling, customer messaging, inventory control and reporting for service levels. They also buy subcontract engineering capacity, civils support, accounting, telecoms legal advice, insurance, fleet services, uniforms, devices, testing equipment and warehouse or storage space. Firms with recurring revenue need dunning, churn analysis and upgrade workflows; firms doing more project work need quoting, job-costing and margin tracking. Security, backup and access control matter because customer records, network credentials and billing details sit close together operationally.

Why and how to sell to them

Broadband buyers tend to evaluate vendors when orders are backing up, fault volumes are rising, or a new estate, landlord portfolio or wholesale relationship stretches the current operating model. Other triggers include a new operations lead, a move beyond founder-led scheduling, recruitment of engineers, a funding event, or revenue approaching the £5M threshold where manual billing and support processes start to show strain. Outbound works better when it ties the proposition to fewer missed appointments, faster provisioning, lower repeat-visit rates, cleaner customer communications or better visibility of margin by job and account. Generic modernisation language is less useful than evidence that the seller understands wayleaves, access windows and local service assurance.

How this list is built

Methodology

Data sources

This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.

Classification

Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.

Freshness

The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.

Frequently asked questions

How many broadband companies are there in Liverpool?
Around 54 actively-trading broadband companies are registered in Liverpool. Of those, 3 report turnover above £5M in their most recent filed accounts. This Liverpool list covers companies across the wider Liverpool travel-to-work area, including surrounding towns — not just the Liverpool local-authority boundary.
What counts as a broadband company in this list?
A company is included when its public website and filed activity descriptions indicate it sells broadband products or services as its primary business — not just because of the SIC code it picked at incorporation. Each company is tagged via semantic analysis of its website content; SIC codes are used as supporting signal, not the sole gate.
Which are the largest broadband companies in Liverpool?
The list is ranked by a sales-readiness score — built from trading signals, financial health and growth rather than raw turnover — so the most actionable broadband companies in Liverpool appear at the top of the table. Larger firms often still rank highly, because that score rewards genuine trading scale, but the order reflects sales-readiness, not turnover alone. About 3 of the 54 actively-trading firms report turnover above £5M in their most recent accounts; subsidiaries that file consolidated worldwide accounts are excluded so the figures stay comparable across UK filers.
What do broadband companies in Liverpool actually do?
How does Liverpool broadband compare internationally?
Cross-border comparisons of broadband populations are tricky because every country defines the sector slightly differently and reports financials on different cadences. We focus this list on firms that file UK statutory accounts so the figures are comparable; international peer breakdowns aren't bundled here.
How is this list built and how fresh is the data?
The list is rebuilt from Companies House dump data, XBRL filings, and a website analysis pass over each company's public site. Companies with consolidated group accounts (worldwide rather than UK-only revenue) are excluded so the figures stay UK-specific. The page's last-updated date is shown at the top.
How big are the typical broadband companies in Liverpool?
Company sizes in this list vary widely. The median actively-trading broadband firm employs around 1 people, and median UK turnover across the list is roughly £20k in the most recent filed accounts.
Are these mostly new or established broadband companies?
15 of the 54 actively-trading broadband companies in this list were incorporated since 2022; the remainder were incorporated before then, so the Liverpool list mixes recent entrants with longer-established firms.
What SIC codes does this use?
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, we build a semantic understanding of what each company actually does by scraping its website and analysing it with AI. This means a company is included based on what it sells, not what SIC code it picked at incorporation. SIC codes are used as a signal but not the primary classification.
What buying signals should I look for?
The strongest signals for B2B outbound are recent leadership changes (new CFO/CRO), rapid headcount growth, revenue-band changes, and web-stack changes. Firmbase tracks all of these automatically.
