Packaging Companies in London: 100+ Active Firms (2026)
Packaging companies in London design, manufacture and distribute containers, wraps and materials for retail, food, industrial and ecommerce supply chains.
Buying centres tend to sit in procurement, operations and brand or product teams, with finance involved once suppliers become contracted vendors. The customer base is mostly B2B: retailers, food and drink brands, ecommerce sellers, industrial suppliers and logistics operators that need cartons, labels, films, wraps or protective formats on repeat order. Engagements are usually practical supply relationships rather than isolated design projects, ranging from short-run custom formats for smaller businesses to contracted replenishment and volume fulfilment for mid-market customers. Technical fit, lead times and stock availability matter as much as unit price.
London has 174 trading packaging companies matching this B2B supply-chain profile, a compact cohort rather than a broad manufacturing base. Reported employment totals 5,471 people, so the footprint includes production-led employers as well as lean commercial, design and distribution teams. The mix appears geared towards repeat procurement: cartons, labels, films, wraps and protective materials bought by retail, food and drink, ecommerce, industrial goods and logistics customers. That gives the list a practical skew towards firms with live customer demand, fulfilment capacity and supplier-management needs rather than concept-stage materials ventures.
Packaging suppliers operate in a market shaped less by a dedicated sector licence than by customer and product requirements. Food and drink buyers tend to ask for traceability and hygiene controls, retailers press for labelling consistency, and logistics customers value damage reduction and dependable replenishment. Waste, recycling and material-choice obligations also affect specifications, but these pressures often pass through contracts and procurement terms rather than a permission regime. For London operators, the market structure mixes local fulfilment, imported materials, short-run conversion and specialist protective formats, leaving margins exposed to paper, polymer, transport and warehouse costs.
The near-term direction appears tied to procurement discipline more than venture-style expansion. Buyers tend to want shorter runs, custom formats and suppliers that can hold stock without tying up too much working capital. That favours operators with design, conversion and fulfilment under the same commercial roof, while purely brokerage-led models may face pressure when material prices or freight costs move. Consolidation also appears plausible at the specialist end of the market, where customer relationships and finishing capability matter more than plant scale alone.

Key facts
About 9% of the trading cohort reports turnover above £5M (16 of 174 firms) — the rest sits below that revenue band.
21% of the cohort was incorporated since 2022 (38 firms), so a sizeable share is in its first few filing cycles.
London packaging suppliers serve retail, food, industrial and ecommerce buyers, linking product presentation with transport protection.
Demand tends to track physical goods movement, retailer range changes and packaging refresh cycles.
Asset-light distributors sit alongside design-led suppliers and manufacturers, so the market is not limited to factory-based production.
Imported product lines and outsourced production appear to be part of the operating mix for some London packaging suppliers.

How London packaging companies work and how to sell to them
What they do
London packaging companies usually earn from product margin, conversion work and repeat supply rather than one-off creative fees. Revenue may come from cartons, containers, labels, films, wraps, void-fill and protective formats, with add-ons for artwork handling, sampling, tooling, stockholding, kitting or delivery. Pricing tends to be per unit, with minimum order quantities, volume breaks and pass-through clauses where paper, polymer, freight or storage costs move. Many firms sit between manufacturers, importers and end customers, so the commercial skill is often matching specification, availability and credit terms to a buyer’s replenishment pattern.
Who they sell to
Most sell to operational buyers in retail, food and drink, ecommerce, industrial goods and logistics, with packaging technologists, brand managers and supply-chain teams involved where specification or presentation matters. Smaller customers may buy through account managers, repeat-order portals or email-led quoting; larger customers tend to run supplier reviews, sample approvals and procurement-led tenders. Contract value varies with material type, run length and service scope, so sellers should expect both short-cycle spot quotes and longer qualification processes. Finance usually enters when credit limits, warehousing commitments or contracted replenishment are on the table.
What they buy
Most packaging firms tend to spend on systems and services that reduce quoting friction, stock errors and operational leakage. Relevant categories include CRM, estimating, ERP, inventory planning, warehouse management, freight management, ecommerce ordering, artwork approval, quality control, traceability and margin analytics. Production-led operators may also need maintenance support, temporary labour, health and safety advice, energy management and waste-handling services. Commercial teams often buy sector-specific marketing, catalogue production, sample fulfilment and customer-service tooling, while finance teams look for credit control, cash-flow forecasting and procurement controls that keep material purchasing aligned with confirmed demand.
Why and how to sell to them
Packaging buyers tend to evaluate new suppliers when margin pressure, missed delivery dates or specification changes expose a gap in their current process. Useful triggers include new warehouse capacity, added conversion equipment, rising quote volumes, a move into food or ecommerce customers, or recruitment across operations and customer service. Outbound messaging usually works better when it speaks to waste, rework, slow approvals, stockouts, credit risk or material-cost visibility rather than abstract efficiency. Proof points should be practical: shorter quote turnaround, fewer picking errors, clearer artwork sign-off or tighter control of repeat-order margins.
How this list is built
Data sources
This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.
Classification
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.
Freshness
The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.
