Textiles Companies in London: 2,100+ Active Firms (2026)
Textiles manufacturers in London produce fabrics, garments and finished textile goods for fashion, interiors and industrial buyers.
Buying centres tend to sit with production, sourcing and merchandising teams rather than with a single technology-style budget holder. The more attractive customers are commercial buyers that need repeatable supply: fashion and accessories labels, interiors suppliers, workwear providers and technical textile users. Engagements usually revolve around sampling, short-run or repeat-run manufacturing, white-label production, imported-goods control and documentation. For established SME and mid-market operators, defensibility sits in supplier discipline, fabric knowledge, turnaround reliability and the ability to keep fibre, care and product-description claims aligned with what is actually being sold.
London has 2,176 actively trading textiles and apparel manufacturers in this list, giving the capital a sizeable base of workshops, design-led producers and apparel supply-chain firms. Reported employment stands at 1,316 people, which points to a fragmented production base rather than a market dominated by large factories. The commercial centre of gravity appears to sit around specialist teams serving fashion, interiors, workwear and technical supply chains, with many operators likely to combine manufacturing, sourcing and import-control functions.
Labelling and product-description rules matter more here than a single sector licence. The Textile Products (Labelling and Fibre Composition) Regulations require textile products to carry fibre-content labelling, with the manufacturer or UK importer responsible for ensuring that the label is present, in English, durable, legible, visible and accessible. Only prescribed fibre names may be used, and products containing fur, leather, bone or other non-textile animal-origin parts must use the wording contains non-textile parts of animal origin. Misleading descriptions and omissions also fall under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act, while UKFT provides sector representation.
The sector appears likely to remain split between small specialist producers and a thinner layer of scaled operators serving repeat commercial demand. Newer entrants tend to cluster around design-led apparel, accessories and niche textile applications, while more established manufacturers are better placed to absorb compliance work around labelling, fibre claims and product descriptions. Buyers are likely to keep pressure on turnaround times and documentation quality. Consolidation may be incremental, through supplier networks and outsourced production relationships, rather than a clean shift towards large factory ownership.

Key facts
About 2% of the trading cohort reports turnover above £5M (47 of 2,176 firms) — the rest sits below that revenue band.
25% of the cohort was incorporated since 2022 (544 firms), so a sizeable share is in its first few filing cycles.
The Textile Products (Labelling and Fibre Composition) Regulations 2012 require textile products to carry fibre-content labels that are in English, durable, legible, visible and accessible.
Misleading product descriptions and omissions fall under Part 4, Chapter 1 of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.
UKFT puts the wider UK fashion and textile industry at £62 billion of economic contribution, 1.3 million jobs and more than £23 billion in tax revenues.
The UK consumed 1.42 million tonnes of new textile products in 2022 and generated 1.45 million tonnes of used textiles in the same year.
Global fibre production reached 124 million tonnes in 2023, up from 116 million tonnes in 2022; polyester accounted for 57% of total fibre production.

How London textiles companies work and how to sell to them
What they do
Most London textiles businesses earn from production runs, sampling, sourcing margin and related services rather than from a single recurring subscription model. Pricing is usually tied to units, metres, fabric type, labour intensity, minimum order quantities and turnaround requirements, with separate charges for pattern work, grading, sampling, packaging or documentation. Some operators act as cut-make-trim workshops, while others manage imported goods, private-label production or finished textile supply. Repeat commercial orders matter because one-off sampling rarely covers the cost of quality control, supplier coordination and compliance work.
Who they sell to
Commercial buyers are usually fashion labels, interiors suppliers, workwear providers, hospitality groups, ecommerce sellers and technical-textile users that need repeatable supply rather than casual retail purchasing. Decision-making often sits across founders, production managers, merchandisers, sourcing leads, operations directors and, for larger customers, procurement and quality teams. Smaller orders may be won directly through relationships and samples; larger programmes tend to involve supplier onboarding, audits, specification checks and negotiated payment terms. Sales cycles are typically short for prototypes, but longer when a buyer is replacing an incumbent manufacturer or committing to repeat production.
What they buy
Most textiles firms tend to spend on practical operating systems before broader corporate tooling: stock control, order management, product information management, accounting, payroll, customer relationship management, ecommerce administration and production scheduling. Manufacturers handling repeat runs may also buy computer-aided design, pattern management, warehouse scanning, quality-assurance, traceability and courier or freight-management services. Services spend often covers fabric testing, customs support, legal advice on product descriptions, bookkeeping, recruitment and outsourced marketing. Machinery maintenance, packaging, labelling, photography and studio services can also be relevant where firms control more of the finished-goods workflow.
Why and how to sell to them
Buying intent often appears when a textiles business moves from ad hoc orders to repeat programmes, adds new production or sourcing staff, takes on imported-goods responsibility, opens a larger workshop, or starts serving customers with stricter documentation requirements. Common pain points include margin leakage, late materials, rework, uncertain demand, stock tied up in slow-moving lines and the risk of inaccurate fibre or care claims. Outbound works better when it is tied to a visible operational constraint: fewer order errors, cleaner product records, faster sampling, lower returns, clearer audit trails or tighter control over supplier and shipment status.
How this list is built
Data sources
This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.
Classification
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.
Freshness
The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.
