Project Management Companies in London: 500+ Active Firms (2026)
Project management consultancies plan, coordinate and control complex client programmes across London boroughs.
Buying centres tend to sit with portfolio offices, finance teams, capital-project sponsors and change leaders rather than a single procurement lane. London practices sell into corporate, infrastructure, property, technology and public-sector customers, with work framed around governance, risk, cost control and business change delivery. Engagements are usually fee-based and repeatable: advisory retainers, programme assurance, embedded delivery teams and work-package support. The buyer profile is therefore closer to professional services than software or outsourcing, with trust, sector experience and credible delivery capacity carrying the sale.
London has 569 actively trading project management consultancies in this list, a cohort shaped by fee-based advisory work rather than product resale. Reported employment is not just a small-company footnote: 118 firms report headcount, covering 2,577 people. That points to a labour-intensive market in which delivery capacity, senior assurance, and client-facing governance teams matter as much as formal incorporation age.
Project work is constrained by the client's control environment rather than a sector licence. Public-sector and infrastructure mandates tend to bring procurement discipline, audit trails and formal change-control, while corporate and technology clients place more weight on risk ownership, delivery assurance and board-level reporting. Property-related assignments add planning, cost and contractor interfaces. The result is a market where credibility often comes from method, documentation and the ability to work inside client governance, not from proprietary tools.
Demand appears tied to clients’ need to keep complex property, infrastructure, technology and business-change work under control as budgets face scrutiny. The market tends to reward consultancies that can move between advisory, assurance and hands-on delivery without sounding like generalist contractors. Newer entrants may find room in specialist niches, but scale-up scarcity is likely to persist where senior project talent and repeat client access remain the main constraints.

Key facts
About 12% of the trading cohort reports turnover above £5M (72 of 569 firms) — the rest sits below that revenue band.
9% of the cohort was incorporated since 2022 (55 firms), so a sizeable share is in its first few filing cycles.
London project management consultancies plan, coordinate and control client programmes across boroughs, usually sitting between advisory work and delivery oversight.
Buyers often distinguish programme-office delivery from advisory or contracting work, because each model implies a different cadence of governance and client interaction.
Procurement conversations tend to focus on governance, scope control, budget discipline and dependency management across client workstreams.

How London project management companies work and how to sell to them
What they do
London project management consultancies earn mainly through fees for advisory, assurance and delivery support rather than software licences or transaction income. Their work is sold as partner-led diagnostic assignments, programme controls retainers, embedded project teams, risk and cost reviews, or defined work packages tied to a client’s capital project or change programme. Pricing usually follows day rates, fixed-scope fees, retainer models, or framework call-offs, with higher-value engagements depending on senior sponsor access and repeat mandates. The service shape is people-led: methods, reporting cadence, governance artefacts and sector familiarity matter, but the revenue sits in experienced capacity and accountability for delivery disciplines.
Who they sell to
Most firms sell to corporate transformation teams, infrastructure and property sponsors, technology leadership, portfolio offices and public-sector programme owners. Buyers are usually CFOs, COOs, CIOs, transformation directors, heads of projects, commercial directors or procurement teams acting for a senior sponsor. Smaller assignments can be won through referral and direct relationship selling; larger mandates tend to move through approved supplier lists, framework agreements, competitive tenders or RFP processes. Sales cycles vary with governance burden, from a short scoping conversation for assurance work to several months where the client needs security clearance, commercial review, conflicts checks or board approval.
What they buy
Project management practices tend to spend on tools and services that reduce delivery risk or protect utilisation. Typical software needs include CRM, proposal management, resource planning, timesheets, project accounting, document control, knowledge management, analytics, cyber security and collaboration tooling. Professional services spend often covers legal review for client contracts, insurance advice, accounting, audit, tax, bid writing, sector marketing and recruitment. Firms with public-sector or infrastructure exposure may also buy compliance support, quality management systems, information-security certification help and training for project controls, risk registers, cost reporting and change-management methods. Cloud hosting and device management matter where consultants work across client sites.
Why and how to sell to them
Commercial intent often appears when a consultancy wins larger retained work, moves from founder-led delivery to managed teams, hires senior programme or commercial leaders, or starts bidding for public-sector and infrastructure frameworks. The pain points are usually utilisation leakage, inconsistent reporting, margin erosion on fixed-fee work, slow proposal production, security expectations and the difficulty of proving delivery quality before a client has worked with them. Outbound works better when it is tied to a specific operating pressure: improving bid throughput, reducing contract risk, tightening time capture, evidencing assurance methods, or helping senior consultants spend less time on administration and more time with sponsors.
How this list is built
Data sources
This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.
Classification
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.
Freshness
The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.
