Aerospace Companies in London: 100+ Active Firms (2026)
Aerospace companies in London manufacture aircraft components, systems and regulated aviation products within the CAA framework.
Buying decisions tend to sit with engineering, procurement and quality teams inside internationally integrated supply chains, rather than with passenger-facing aviation businesses. The relevant customer base is B2B and programme-led, with mid-market and enterprise buyers looking for parts, structures, systems and regulated aviation products that can be qualified, documented and supplied repeatably. Engagements are rarely simple spot purchases: drawings, materials traceability, production controls and airworthiness evidence matter alongside unit price. Commercial scale therefore runs from specialist engineering teams to mid-market manufacturers, with the better-fitting firms focused on high-value components and systems rather than complete large-aircraft assembly.
London has 118 actively trading aerospace manufacturing companies in this cohort. Reported headcount totals 1,466, pointing to a compact manufacturing footprint relative to the sort of employment base associated with full aircraft assembly. The revenue distribution is uneven: 12 firms sit above £5M turnover, while 21 were incorporated since 2022. That shape fits a capital-city aerospace base built around specialist components, systems engineering and regulated product work, rather than complete large-aircraft assembly.
CAA airworthiness and certification expectations shape who can sell into regulated aviation supply chains. Manufacturers making approved aircraft products, parts or appliances may need production-organisation approval, with quality systems, conformity control and traceability becoming commercial prerequisites rather than back-office paperwork. ADS frames the market through aerospace, defence, security and space, and has highlighted the CAA’s broader rulemaking and certification role. Alignment with EASA and the US FAA remains important because London manufacturers usually sell components and systems into cross-border programmes, not isolated domestic procurement.
Certification depth appears likely to separate durable manufacturers from lighter engineering consultancies. Customers tend to reward suppliers that can evidence process control, repeatability and documentation discipline, so early-commercial firms may find sales cycles long even where the component niche is attractive. Scarcity of scaled London manufacturers also suggests acquisition interest may focus on capability gaps: specialist structures, safety-critical systems and regulated production know-how. Export-facing work should remain exposed to rulebook alignment and customer concentration, which makes the sector less forgiving than software or general industrial services.

Key facts
About 10% of the trading cohort reports turnover above £5M (12 of 118 firms) — the rest sits below that revenue band.
17% of the cohort was incorporated since 2022 (21 firms), so a sizeable share is in its first few filing cycles.
Aerospace manufacturing sits within the CAA’s airworthiness and certification framework, including UK Part 21 Subpart G production organisation approvals for Part 21 aircraft, products, parts and appliances.
ADS’ 2024 outlook notes the CAA’s expanded role in rulemaking and certification, with alignment to EASA and the US FAA important for internationally traded aerospace products.
ADS’ 2024 outlook puts UK aerospace turnover at £30.5 billion and exports at £20 billion.
A US government market guide says 70% of domestic aerospace production is exported.
The UK industry is described as focused on engines, helicopters, wings, structures and aircraft systems rather than large civil aircraft.

How London aerospace companies work and how to sell to them
What they do
Revenue usually comes from build-to-print component supply, design-and-make engineering, prototype-to-production work and longer programme supply agreements. Pricing tends to combine non-recurring engineering charges, tooling and qualification costs, and agreed unit prices once a part or system is approved for repeat manufacture. Some firms also earn through test work, documentation packages and regulated production support. Margins are shaped by material control, inspection burden, scrap rates and the cost of holding skilled engineering capacity between programme milestones, so commercial conversations often sit close to operations rather than pure sales.
Who they sell to
Customers are usually aircraft manufacturers, tier suppliers, defence and space programme teams, and engineering groups that need qualified parts or systems inside a larger build. Decision-makers tend to include heads of engineering, procurement leads, quality managers, supply-chain directors and programme managers. Typical procurement is formal: approved supplier onboarding, technical audits, drawings review, first-article approval and contract negotiation before repeat orders follow. Sales cycles often run longer than in general manufacturing because buyers are assessing risk, evidence and continuity of supply as much as price.
What they buy
Most London aerospace manufacturers tend to spend on systems that make controlled production easier to prove: quality management, document control, materials traceability, calibration management, non-conformance workflows, manufacturing resource planning and supplier management. Engineering teams may also buy design, simulation, inspection and production-planning software, while finance and operations teams look at inventory control, costing and cash-flow visibility. Services spend commonly includes certification advice, export-control support, specialist recruitment, audit preparation, technical marketing for programme bids, and subcontract manufacturing where capacity or a niche process is missing.
Why and how to sell to them
Buying intent often appears when firms move from prototype work into repeat production, prepare for customer audits, add a quality or operations lead, win a place on a programme, or face tighter documentation demands from CAA-related approval routes. Useful outbound tends to be specific about reducing rework, shortening audit preparation, improving traceability or protecting delivery dates on regulated parts. Generic productivity claims are less persuasive here. Aerospace buyers usually need evidence that a vendor understands controlled change, approval gates and long customer relationships, not just a lower operating cost.
How this list is built
Data sources
This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.
Classification
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.
Freshness
The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.
