B2B Companies in Glasgow: 1,700+ Active Firms (2026)
B2B companies in Glasgow sell products and services to other organisations across the city-region’s commercial supply chain.
Buying centres tend to sit in operations, procurement, finance, IT and professional services, rather than in consumer-facing growth teams. Glasgow suppliers in this category usually sell to mid-market organisations, public bodies and larger professional-services buyers that need account ownership, service-level commitments and procurement evidence before purchase. Engagements are more often retained services, infrastructure contracts, managed supply arrangements or recurring software and support fees than one-off consumer transactions. The common thread is a sales motion built around named decision-makers, tendering, renewal risk and business-contact data rather than high-volume checkout demand.
Glasgow has 1,773 actively trading B2B companies, a sizeable local pool but still one that reads as a city-region market rather than a national proxy. Reported employment totals 10,956 people, so the cohort has a visible payroll footprint as well as registered entities. Turnover distribution is uneven: 309 companies report more than £5M in annual turnover, while 115 were incorporated since 2022, leaving much of the list in established SME and mid-market territory.
The B2B label does not carry its own UK licence regime; obligations follow the underlying activity, such as financial services, telecoms, data processing or professional services. Direct marketing rules are still central for many sellers. ICO guidance treats PECR as covering live and automated calls, electronic mail and fax, while UK GDPR applies when business-contact personal data is processed. The PECR electronic-mail consent rule does not apply to corporate subscribers, but senders must identify themselves, provide a valid opt-out route, and screen live B2B calls against CTPS and TPS where objections apply.
Glasgow’s B2B base appears likely to remain mixed, with local service firms, specialist suppliers and technology-enabled operators sharing the same buyer universe. Procurement discipline tends to matter more as customers move from owner-managed businesses into public bodies and mid-market groups, which favours vendors that can evidence delivery, data handling and continuity. Newer firms may find routes in through sector-specific expertise rather than generic outreach. Consolidation looks more plausible in fragmented service categories than in regulated activities, where permissions, client trust and switching costs slow deal-making.

Key facts
About 17% of the trading cohort reports turnover above £5M (309 of 1,773 firms) — the rest sits below that revenue band.
6% of the cohort was incorporated since 2022 (115 firms), so a sizeable share is in its first few filing cycles.
B2B is not a single licensed industry in the UK; regulation depends on the underlying activity, such as financial services, telecoms, data processing or professional services.
ICO guidance says PECR covers live or automated calls, electronic mail and fax, while UK GDPR still applies where business-contact personal data is processed.
Corporate B2B emails and texts do not need PECR consent, but senders must identify themselves and provide a valid opt-out address.
ONS reported 2.73 million VAT and/or PAYE businesses in the UK as of March 2025, up 0.4% from March 2024.
UK official estimates put SMEs at 99.8% of private-sector businesses at the start of 2024, broadly in line with SME-heavy business populations across advanced economies.

How Glasgow B2B companies work and how to sell to them
What they do
Glasgow B2B suppliers usually earn revenue through contracted work for other organisations: retained services, subscription software, managed infrastructure, wholesale supply, advisory projects and support agreements. Pricing tends to be negotiated rather than posted, with annual retainers, usage-based fees, seat-based licences, day rates, project milestones or service bundles depending on the offer. Software-led firms can carry expansion revenue through extra users or modules, while service-led firms depend more on utilisation, renewal discipline and account management. The common commercial unit is an organisation with named stakeholders, not an anonymous end user.
Who they sell to
Typical buyers include owner-managed SMEs, mid-market groups, public-sector teams, regulated operators and professional-services firms across Scotland and the wider UK. Decision-makers tend to sit with finance directors, operations directors, procurement leads, IT managers, compliance heads or managing partners, with technical users often influencing requirements. Smaller deals may close through referral-led direct sales, while larger accounts usually need documented scope, supplier questionnaires, security evidence and procurement sign-off. Sales cycles range from short consultative conversations to longer tender-led processes where renewal dates, budget windows and incumbent performance matter.
What they buy
Most Glasgow B2B firms tend to spend on systems and services that support account acquisition, delivery control and renewal management. Common categories include CRM, sales engagement, quoting, billing, finance, payroll, HR, recruitment, customer support, project management, contract management, analytics, cyber security, cloud hosting, backup and data governance. Service-heavy firms also buy accounting, legal, insurance, bid-writing, design, marketing, training and sector accreditation support. Companies handling corporate contact lists may need data cleansing, consent management and suppression processes, especially where outbound teams contact business buyers by email, phone or events.
Why and how to sell to them
Buying intent often appears when a Glasgow B2B supplier moves from founder-led selling into repeatable account management, wins larger customers, prepares for a tender, replaces an incumbent system, hires operational managers or tightens UK GDPR and PECR processes. Pain points tend to cluster around renewal risk, margin leakage, slow proposal work, poor handover from sales to delivery, limited management reporting and evidence requests from customers. Outbound works better when it is tied to a concrete trigger: helping bids pass supplier checks, reducing manual admin, improving forecast visibility, protecting service levels or making compliance evidence easier to produce.
How this list is built
Data sources
This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.
Classification
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.
Freshness
The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.
