Creator Economy Companies in London: 7,700+ Active Firms (2026)
Creator economy companies in London produce, monetise and distribute digital media, audience communities and influencer campaigns across the capital.
Buying centres in London cluster around advertiser-funded campaign execution, audience monetisation, creator representation, rights management and analytics for campaign performance. Demand is mostly business-to-business: advertisers, agencies, media owners and consumer businesses buying production, sponsorship, affiliate, subscription or commerce support. Engagements range from project-based creative packages to retained campaign management, with larger matches resembling mid-market media-services businesses rather than freelance creator accounts. The more credible operators show employees, repeat commercial relationships and revenue beyond founder-led work, plus routines for disclosure, approvals and rights ownership.
Around 7,700 creator economy companies are actively trading in London. The revenue distribution is top-light: 78 firms report turnover above £5M, while 1,931 were incorporated since 2022, leaving a long tail of young or owner-managed production, representation and monetisation businesses. Reported headcount totals 1,254 staff, so the employment footprint looks narrower than the company count implies. That combination fits a capital-city market built on agencies, media buyers, rights work and creator-led commercial teams, with only a small slice reaching larger revenue bands.
Consumer-protection and advertising law set the sharper boundary, rather than a dedicated sector licence. CMA guidance treats hidden ads and misleading practices as potential breaches, including where value is received through gifts, commissions, affiliate links, sponsorships or own-brand promotion. ASA and CAP Code expectations add an operational layer: paid-for or incentivised posts should be obviously identifiable, with clear and prominent labelling such as "Ad". Trading Standards Services can also sit in the enforcement chain. For London agencies and creator-led teams, the practical issue is process evidence: briefs, approvals, rights, disclosure wording and campaign records.
A visible early-commercial layer appears likely to keep competition fragmented, especially where the offer is production, talent coordination or social campaign delivery rather than proprietary rights or software. Buyers tend to be more demanding about attribution, usage rights and disclosure evidence, which favours operators that can document process as well as creative output. Scale-up scarcity may persist: service-heavy models can reach profitability without becoming large employers, while repeat sponsorship and commerce revenue can be cyclical. Consolidation is plausible around representation, rights management and measurement, but the market still looks relationship-led and exposed to platform rule changes.

Key facts
About 1% of the trading cohort reports turnover above £5M (78 of 7,700 firms) — the rest sits below that revenue band.
25% of the cohort was incorporated since 2022 (1,931 firms), so a sizeable share is in its first few filing cycles.
Creator and influencer-marketing businesses are governed mainly through consumer-protection and advertising rules, rather than a sector licence.
CMA and gov.uk guidance treats gifts, commissions, affiliate links, sponsorships and own-brand promotions as advertising when they incentivise promotional content.
Section 2 of the CAP Code requires marketing communications to be obviously identifiable, including influencer advertorials, affiliate marketing and own-brand promotional posts.
DCMS provisional 2024 estimates put DCMS-sector GVA at £247.6 billion, or 9.4% of UK GVA.
DCMS-sector GVA grew 2.6% from 2023 to 2024, with creative industries GVA up 4.6% over the same period.

How London creator economy companies work and how to sell to them
What they do
London creator-economy operators usually monetise attention indirectly: campaign fees from advertisers, retainers from agencies, commissions on talent bookings, usage-rights licences, affiliate or commerce revenue share, and subscriptions for analytics or audience-management tools. The offer is often a blend of services and workflow: creative production, creator sourcing, brief management, approvals, reporting and rights administration. Pricing tends to follow the buyer’s risk. Tactical campaigns are charged as projects, ongoing social or sponsorship programmes move to retainers, and talent or marketplace models usually take a percentage of spend, sales or booking value.
Who they sell to
Customer buying is concentrated in marketing, media and commerce teams, with most demand coming from advertisers, agencies, media owners and consumer businesses. Typical decision-makers include brand directors, heads of social, partnership leads, ecommerce managers and agency account heads; finance, legal and procurement join when contracts cover repeat spend, creator exclusivity, usage rights or regulated claims. Smaller tools and creator services may sell through inbound or self-serve routes, while larger campaign-management and representation mandates tend to rely on referrals, direct sales, agency relationships and occasional RFP processes.
What they buy
Spend tends to follow the campaign workflow. Most creator-economy firms tend to buy CRM for advertiser and creator relationships, project management, contract and rights-management tools, disclosure and approval tracking, billing, payments, affiliate tracking, analytics, attribution and social listening. Service spend often sits around legal review, accounting, payroll, creator contracting, recruitment, paid media, content production and PR. Operators with heavier video, audio or community activity also need cloud storage, collaboration tooling, cyber security, data protection support and insurance. Measurement and finance systems become more relevant once campaign volume outgrows spreadsheets and founder-managed relationships.
Why and how to sell to them
Buying urgency often comes from operational strain rather than curiosity. Creator-economy buyers tend to evaluate vendors when they win retained brand or agency work, add account managers, move into affiliate or commerce models, face disclosure scrutiny, or need cleaner evidence for approvals, usage rights and campaign outcomes. Platform rule changes can also create demand for better reporting and audience-risk monitoring. Outbound usually lands better when it is tied to leakage in revenue share, late approvals, disputed deliverables, slow reporting or audit exposure, rather than generic promises about growth.
How this list is built
Data sources
This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.
Classification
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.
Freshness
The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.
