RegTech Companies in London: 100+ Active Firms (2026)
RegTech companies in London build compliance, risk and reporting software for regulated financial-services teams in the capital.
Buying centres sit mainly inside compliance, financial-crime, risk, data, operations and regulatory-reporting teams, with legal and technology sponsors pulled in when workflow or identity controls touch existing systems. Buyers tend to be regulated financial-services organisations rather than general SMEs: banks, payment firms, insurers, wealth managers and market-infrastructure teams looking for audit trails, case management, monitoring and evidence packs. Engagements usually look like mid-market or enterprise software purchases, with procurement, security review, implementation support and recurring subscription or usage-based fees. Firms that fit the niche align roadmap choices with FCA themes rather than selling generic governance software.
London has 125 actively trading RegTech companies, a compact cohort by software standards but close to the capital’s regulated-finance buying base. Reported headcount across the cohort is 1,653 people, which points to a market made up mostly of specialist product and implementation teams rather than large service employers. A minority sit above the £5M turnover threshold, and a newer layer has been incorporated since 2022, so the group mixes established compliance platforms with earlier workflow, identity and monitoring suppliers.
RegTech sits under financial-services compliance rather than a single licensing perimeter. Product obligations depend on the activity being supported, so tools used for monitoring, digital identity, reporting or financial-crime controls tend to inherit buyer scrutiny from FCA-regulated customers. The FCA describes RegTech as technology developed to help overcome regulatory challenges in financial services, and its engagement agenda now includes AI for regulatory obligations, financial crime, financial inclusion, digital ID and open finance. The regulator also runs innovation services and sandbox-style testing routes, while Innovate Finance frames UK RegTech around technologies that make regulatory delivery more efficient.
Future demand appears tied less to speculative software budgets than to persistent compliance cost, audit expectations and pressure on regulated firms to evidence decisions. Early-commercial suppliers may keep entering around financial crime, identity and AI governance, but scale-up scarcity suggests buyers will continue to favour suppliers that can survive procurement and implementation risk. Consolidation also looks plausible: adjacent governance, risk, workflow and data-integration providers tend to absorb specialist functions once those functions become standard buyer requirements. For smaller London firms, the constraint is likely to be trust and distribution rather than product imagination.

Key facts
About 12% of the trading cohort reports turnover above £5M (16 of 125 firms) — the rest sits below that revenue band.
16% of the cohort was incorporated since 2022 (20 firms), so a sizeable share is in its first few filing cycles.
The FCA treats RegTech as technologies developed to help overcome regulatory challenges in financial services, not as a standalone licensed activity.
The FCA’s 2024/25 engagement priorities include AI for regulatory obligations, financial crime, financial inclusion and digital ID, and open finance.
UK financial-services firms spent £34.2 billion per annum on compliance in 2022, up 19% from £28.7 billion in 2020.
The global RegTech market was valued at $12.82 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach $85.92 billion by 2032, a CAGR of 23.6%.
FCA innovation services include an Innovation Hub, TechSprints and a Permanent Digital Sandbox for regulatory-facing product testing and engagement.

How London RegTech companies work and how to sell to them
What they do
London RegTech firms usually earn revenue from recurring software sold into regulated workflows: screening and monitoring, case management, regulatory reporting, digital identity, policy attestation, model governance and evidence capture. Pricing tends to mix annual subscription with usage measures such as checks, monitored accounts, transactions, entities, modules or seats. Implementation, data-mapping and control-design work can add services revenue at onboarding, especially where a bank or insurer needs integration with legacy systems. Most are not pure self-serve tools; the commercial model depends on proving reliability, security and auditability before the subscription can expand across more teams or jurisdictions.
Who they sell to
Regulated financial-services organisations are the usual buyer, rather than generic software customers. Compliance, financial-crime, risk and operations teams often sponsor the need, with CTO, data, information-security, procurement and legal teams testing whether the product can sit inside existing controls. Typical opportunities are direct enterprise sales: discovery with a functional owner, proof-of-concept or pilot, security review, commercial negotiation and contract redlines. Larger institutions may run RFPs or use advisory and implementation partners, while smaller regulated firms may buy through a shorter direct process if the product solves a narrow reporting or monitoring problem.
What they buy
Most RegTech firms tend to spend on the plumbing needed to satisfy enterprise customers: secure cloud infrastructure, data integration, identity and access management, application security, observability, automated testing, backup, incident response and support tooling. Go-to-market teams usually need CRM, marketing operations, proposal management, revenue analytics and customer-success systems that can track long sales cycles and renewal risk. Specialist services can matter as much as software, particularly financial-services legal advice, regulatory consulting, penetration testing, security accreditation support, technical writing, implementation contractors, product recruitment and sales hiring with experience of regulated accounts.
Why and how to sell to them
Commercial intent often appears when a RegTech firm moves from founder-led selling into repeatable enterprise sales, wins a regulated institution that triggers heavier security review, expands from one compliance use case into adjacent workflows, or hires senior revenue, product or security leadership. Regulatory change is another trigger, because product teams need to translate FCA themes into roadmap, controls and evidence packs before competitors reach the same buyer. Outbound angles tend to land when they reduce procurement friction, implementation risk, audit preparation, integration effort or hiring bottlenecks. Vague efficiency claims are less useful than showing how a supplier helps the firm pass buyer scrutiny.
How this list is built
Data sources
This list is built from UK Companies House filings, XBRL accounts data, and semantic analysis of each company's public website. Revenue and headcount figures come from the most recent filed accounts; where the company has not filed, values are estimated using a model trained on filed history and peer benchmarks and are labelled as estimates.
Classification
Rather than relying solely on SIC codes, Firmbase classifies each company semantically: the company's website is crawled, an AI model reads what the company actually sells, and the company is placed into the relevant industry and subsectors. SIC codes are used as one signal but not the only one. This means a company that registered under a generic SIC code but pivoted into (for example) fintech is correctly identified as fintech, not as its original SIC category.
Freshness
The underlying company data is refreshed from Companies House continuously; filings appear in the list within days of submission. The curated list ordering is regenerated when the underlying data moves meaningfully (company count changes by more than 5%, a new company enters the top-ranked segment, or the filed-revenue numbers for the top firms change). You can see the last-updated timestamp near the top of the page.
